Patrick McClanahan joins the University of Alabama as Assistant Professor
After ten years in Europe, Max Planck researcher Patrick McClanahan is returning to the USA. The criminologist will start teaching at the University of Alabama this summer.
After completing the post-doctoral phase of his academic career, Patrick McClanahan is leaving the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law at the end of April. His new position takes him to the University of Alabama, where he will be joining the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice as an assistant professor in August. He will remain associated with the Max Planck Institute as an affiliated researcher.
Patrick was instrumental in advancing the Virtual Burglary Project at the Max Planck Institute: the research project uses virtual reality versions of residential neighborhoods to study the behavior of burglars. He previously studied at Roanoke College, Virginia (USA) and the University of Cambridge (UK), where he also earned his doctorate. After ten years of academic study and field work in Europe, he is now returning to his native USA.
